Can I Take This Class?

ATEC Spring 2021 Edition

As always, if you have any questions about your classes or prerequisites, please contact
ATECadvising@utdallas.edu

Course Modalities and Technology

For courses listed as "Remote/Virtual" or "Online," students should ensure that they have access to a desktop or laptop (PC or Mac) that is capable of running a VPN and is connected to a stable and strong internet connection.

Students who do not have access to the software required for a particular class will have remote access to the machines in the ATEC computer labs, so purchasing additional hardware or software specifically to run the software for a class is not required: students only need the ability to connect remotely to the ATEC lab computers.

  • Remote access will begin on the first day of class, January 19th
  • When your allotted time expires, you will need to reconnect
  • You will receive an expiration warning beforehand and can log in again
  • Remote computers will be available to students enrolled in computer-based classes 24/7
  • Remote computer assistance is available from 8am-5pm via the ATEC Lab Techs
  • Professor Boyd created a helpful walkthrough on getting connected to the remote computers here (you may have to use your NetID to log in to watch it): https://web.microsoftstream.com/video/f43c3e7a-1b17-4847-b651-ea8f9d4ed95a?list=studio

Manual Registration Through ATECadvising at utdallas.edu

  • For manual registration, use your UT Dallas email to contact ATECadvising at utdallas.edu. Be sure to include "Registration" in the subject line. In the body of the email, include the:

    • Subject (example: ATCM)
    • Course number (example: 2302)
    • Section number (example: 501)
  • Do not send an attachment or screenshot of your request. If you need to show proof of test scores or prerequisites, you can include a screenshot for that. The details above, however, must be written out for our records. Be sure to follow-up with your advisor directly if you have questions about your specific schedule or degree plan. Please be sure to only email after your registration appointment begins, as your request will not be processed if it is sent prior to your registration appointment.
