ATEC Undergraduate Advising utilizes the Microsoft (MS) Teams platform through UTD to conduct virtual advising appointments from a student’s preferred location. Virtual advising appointments are not held in the ATC building.
If available, we recommend utilizing a webcam during your virtual appointment, so that you may have a face-to-face discussion with your advisor. However, this is not required in order to schedule a virtual advising appointment.
If you prefer to not utilize a webcam, please notify your advisor so they are aware it is not due to a technical issue.
Microsoft (MS) Teams:
- Details about MS Teams and how to use it can be found here.
- MS Teams can be accessed on your computer or your phone. ATEC Advising recommends utilizing your computer for ease of viewing documents during your appointments and taking notes.
- You will need to download the app and test out logging in before your scheduled appointment time to avoid running into any technical issues.
- Your appointment confirmation will include a link to the MS Teams Meeting. Make sure that you save your appointment confirmation email.
If you have any difficulties getting into or downloading MS Teams, email your advisor so they can try to assist. There is also a chat function in this platform that you can use to troubleshoot technical issues with your advisor if needed.
