Understanding the Cost Center Statement

What’s Important to Me and Why?

There’s good news and there’s bad news.  The good news is the Cost Center Statement (aka CC Statement) provides a wealth of information.  The bad news is the CC Statement provides more “accounting” information than a CC Owner usually needs.

How Do I find my Available Balance/How Much Do I Have to Spend?

Sample Cost Center Statement (Click Here) (Column G “Available Budget” in the green section is your current Available Balance; Important sections highlighted in yellow for emphasis only.)

The CC Statement presents a snapshot of your available balance, as recorded in the general ledger.  Depending on your activity, you may have more outstanding expenses that have not posted yet.  For example, hourly wages can lag 15 days before posting, OneCard expenses can lag up to six weeks before posting, and upcoming travel expense does not completely post until after travel is complete.  Contact ATECSupport@utdallas.edu to request a list of outstanding expenses and/or a true estimate of your current available balance.
